Stargazer has made landfall in North Brittany. Entering its enchanted world of beach-side towns.
Saint Quay Portrieux is guarded, from atop its tall cliffs, by the semaphore station. The silhouette, of its distinctive red framed tower, our daymark. Visible fifteen miles out. Aiding us to judge the set of the south-going tide, on entry.
Cool whitewashed walls are set about with trees.
They mingle with three storey stone-built, slate roofed houses.
Their shutters thrown wide, in an embrace of summer.
Pavement-side cafes line the harbour front.
The tide is out. Enabling one local boat owner to contemplate the burgeoning weed growth, on the keel of his craft.
Scraper in hand, he bows to the inevitable, if unwelcome, task before him. Required to restore maximum speed and manoeuvrability.
Today winds are light, off the point. A paddle boarder’s paradise, among the sandy shoals.
Tomorrow, the breeze is forecast to fill in from the south . Stargazer plans to catch the, three knot, west bound spring tide, off Les Heaux de Brehat; and ride it, until it turns.
