Living the Dream Cruise 2012 live update 131

Fri 7.9.12. Dartmouth. Kingswear.

Stargazer charges out of L'Aber Wrac'h, to the Libenter buoy, on a foaming reach.

We harden up onto a beat and find that we can just lay our 020 degrees course for Dartmouth. Stargazer is making 7 knots in 20 knots of breeze. We're carrying full sail with everything flattened off. She's carving her way through the swell as if she's on rails!

We tear past the reefs surrounding L'Aber Wrac'h in the evening sun.

Overnight the wind drops to 15 knots. I take in the panorama of stars above the tip of Stargazer's
mast. Progress remains brisk, with the rig now fully slackened off. (Pic is of Friday dawn).

Friday dawns with a "plasma lamp" sea and sky; and no wind. We motor clear of the busy W bound shipping lane.

Slowly, a hazy Start Point drags itself over the horizon towards us.

The cliff top day mark guides us towards an inconspicuous cleft in the tall cliffs. We're in Dartmouth on a sunny Friday afternoon. It's 22 hours and 120 miles since we left L'Aber Wrac'h.
