The quaysides of St Vaast come languidly to life, on a Saturday morning. With time to linger, for a chat, in the sunshine.
The fishing fleet are all in port. Decks hosed. Pots and nets readied, for an early start, on Monday.
The Main Street is thronged. Market goers shopping, at the stalls which fill the roadway, with a determined intensity. For fresh sea-food is as much a passion here, in Normandy, as it is in the ports of Brittany and the Vendée.
A steady stream of weekend anglers, often with a pot or two aboard, put to sea. To secure the freshest of catches for themselves.
Whilst sailors set out, for the sheer pleasure of a day on the water.
