Sat 13.7.13: Ashore, exploring Gugh, Scilly.


Is the legend of Lyonesse (the drowned kingdom to the west of Kernow), a folk memory, of the formation of the Scilly archipelago? Our Bronze Age forebears, in this area, certainly witnessed the inundation of their farm lands and settlements, by the Atlantic Ocean.




They stood a Menhir, The Old Man of Gugh, high on a rocky promontory; gazing out across the waters, in silent witness - Just as the ancient inhabitants, of Ile d'Yeu and Carnac, on the Breton shoreline, chose to do....
