La Hirondelle 87

Stargazer sweeps through the Raz de Seine. Twelve knots of southerly breeze on her quarter. The tide just turned, in our favour. Two mighty stone towers guide us clear, of the notorious rock ledge, and through the channel.

The dense sea fog, of the morning, is banished by blue skies and a fair breeze. Four dolphins gambol. Their white splashes, and black arched backs, show clear on the lightly rippled sea. They keep their distance. Until one erupts from the water, beneath my feet, (having dived beneath the keel) as I stand watching, at Stargazer’s shrouds. Then they are gone. Our farewell from South Brittany, for this year.

Stargazer reaches north. Loping along in the evening sunshine. Making six knots over the ground. Reeling in the dragons teeth of the Crozon.

We shoot the Toulinguet Gap at twenty hundred. The wind on the nose now. Stargazer squeezing through in one tack. There is time for us to make Brest by nightfall, with the help of the tide.

PS Hopefully you will find the quality of photography returned to a better standard (than the recent pixelated phone based posts). I have given up on fixing the laptop. But, whilst dreamily wafting north, it occurred to me that my navigation iPad could be a substitute. Perhaps an improvement. This post is an experiment in downloading and posting camera pictures onto the Blog.
