Dandelion 42

The Glenans Sailing School fleet is a hive of activity. As the shore crews set to work, checklists in hand, to prepare for new guests.

The skippers board, bearing gifts and bringing cheery banter. Their boats all at, or under, thirty five feet. Out cruising in all weathers. In a world become accustomed to forty (plus) foot 'starter boats.’ A sight to gladden the heart.

Another, lies before the gatehouse of the walled city.

Where a concourse, of classic French cars, is underway. The glowing red Renault 4, drawing fond looks. From those of a certain age.

Before they move on to ogle the Citroen 'Deux Chevaux' (2CV), parked alongside.

Still a strikingly a futuristic sight, sixty nine years after its launch (in 1955), a  Citroen DS stands resplendent in white. With an exquisitely streamlined fuselage of a body.

Which cloaks the first disk brakes and hydropneumatic suspension fitted to any production car. The brakes now adopted universally. The suspension, the forerunner of today's adaptive set ups. Available only to the fortunate owners of modern exotica.

Truly a design which defies the march of time.
