Dandelion 48

Stargazer spends a lazy Sunday morning, alongside in Piriac.

Whilst, seventy five sea miles to the south, Charlie Dalin sails up the famous Les Sables d'Olonne channel. Which is lined by cheering crowds. Celebrating his victory, in the New York - Vendee race.

Boris Herrmann (grey boat) looks likely to take second place, later this evening. After gambling his race, on a bold northerly route (yellow track line). Almost reaching Greenland. Sailing further, but faster, in stronger winds (green shading), was the strategy.

It is less clear who will take third. With a pack rapidly closing, from the Azores (bottom middle).

Stargazer still intends to be in Les Sables, to ogle the IMOCA's. And, most likely, to greet the second half of the fleet. Which are still in mid Atlantic (bottom left). Sailing in lighter airs (blue shading). But, a phone call reveals, Port Olona is only permitting single night stops. Until after the prize giving, on Tuesday night.

Our plan is to make for Ile d'Yeu, where the hollyhocks grow high. Sailing at dawn tomorrow. To position ourselves, a morning's sail away from Les Sables. Poised to slip in. As soon as the doors reopen, to visiting craft.
