Zen Again 91

This morning, the tides came fair, to cross the border. Sail north, beyond the invisible line, which separates the Vendee from Breizh (Brittany).

The wind, however, is blowing hard from the very direction in which we wish to sail. Which poses two challenges. The first, being that the distance to destination is doubled, by the need to tack. The second, that, by sailing into it, the force of the breeze is further increased. Stargazer's solution is to stay put, until the situation changes.

The owner of the finger berth, which we are occupying, is due to return tomorrow afternoon. But may be deterred by conditions. Or, being a powerboat, not. The ride will be lumpy, but otherwise, wind stregth and direction will be less of a deterrent. The view of the capitainerie was to 'wait and see’ what happens.

I had expected the visitor pontoon, up by the bridge, to empty of 'weekend boats,' during this afternoon. But, it seems, these are cruisers bound north. Likely to wait until the winds ease, on Tuesday, before moving on. Rafting may be required, tomorrow. Perhaps fittingly, because it was a recommendation received whilst rafted, in L'Herbaudiere, that brought Stargazer to Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie.
