An English Summer 68

I pore over Stargazer's passage planning charts. Reminding myself of how to calculate a course to steer, for a cross tide route. It is a while since we crossed a good stretch of tidal water.

On deck, an atmospheric veil of morning mizzle, lifts from the mouth of Frenchman's Creek.

Soon, the sun is blazing and seafood lovers comb the base of 'our' bluff for tasty morsels.

It is low tide, in Porth Navas.

Aboard Stargazer, I am searching out treasure of a different kind. The latest travel guidance for Guernsey. It seems that we qualify for 'Blue Channel' (quarantine free) entry. Subject only to self administering a pack of Lateral Flow Tests. The main challenge appears to be an IT one: that of linking my NHS app vaccination status, to the mandatory on line Tracker form.

The tides work well for a passage, from Helford to Cawsand Bay (Plymouth), tomorrow. Followed by a twenty hour overnight passage to St Peter Port on Sunday into Monday. A fair, eighteen to twenty five knot southwesterly, is forecast for Friday. Giving us a more or less dead run, into Plymouth. The picture is less certain for Sunday and Monday, with a swing from south west to north east currently expected late on Monday. One to watch.
