Living the Dream Cruise 2012 live update 47

Thr 14.6.12: Golfe du Morbihan, Le Poul. Stargazer is sharing these moorings with some wonderful boats. There are two big Outremer cats: looking organic, futuristic and built for speed all at the same time. The one alongside is called "Zen" the other is "Carpe Diem." "Carpe Diem" was in Sauzon with us.

There's also this take on fast monohull cruising. Open 40 hull form, Canards, full carbon mast and rigging on the one hand; Davits and Lazy Jacks on the other.

A complete contrast to the timeless Oyster beds beyond.

Wind has gone E and then S during the day as forecast. Tomorrow is given as SW 7 and Sat SSW 6. So I think I'll stay put. Sunday looks like a good passage making day though: An 06.45 tide and a force 5 starting in the SW and going SE by evening. Pornichet looks favourite. Any advice on whether there is a visitors pontoon Pierre? Reeds Almanac is a bit vague.

  1. Hello Doug! There are places for the visitors at the end of each pontoons, on the left as on the right of the main channel and a specific pontoon for visitors just after the entrance, on the left near the diesel pumps, but usually reserved for large boats. There are also often some berth freed by their owners while cruising. The best is to call on the VHF channel 9 when you will be approaching from Pornichet. Hope to have the pleasure to meet you on Sunday if possible for you and me. Pierre (will ask the harbour if you're there)

    1. Hi Pierre. Yes it would be great to meet up. Depending on how kind the wind is should be in somewhere between 15.00 (if we sail the shortest distance) or 1900 (if we have to tack into the wind). Will look out for you! Thanks for the help on where to tie up. Bon Vent. Doug
