Sat 2.6.12: Belle Ile, Sauzon. From the sea Sauzon has a very Cornish feel. A cleft in tall granite cliffs freckled with yellow lichen and topped with lush green grass; Sauzon reveals itself at the last moment like Polperro.
Meteo France were spot on with the forecast: set off in 25 knots of easterly breeze with two reefs in the main. Shook the reefs out in 18 knots east of Ile de Groix to maintain speed. Started to wonder if the wind really would go round and where to shelter overnight if it didn't. Then 10 miles out from Belle Ile round it went to the South and lifted us into Sauzon without another tack.
Good sail!
