Living the Dream Cruise 2012 live update 67

Wed 4.7.12: Les Sables d'Olonne, Port Olona.. It's good to be at sea! The breeze built nicely during the day. We left Boyardville milking 3 knots out of a faint breeze and a fair tide.

As we cleared the lee of Ile d'Oleron the wind rose to a 4 and the swell picked up. Both built steadily as we bore off round Ile de Re and scudded in towards Les Sables d'Olonne at 6-7 knots.

I got a good bouncing around on deck rigging lines and fenders as we sailed up to the exposed entrance to the approach canal.

Port Olona is home to the Vendee Globe Singlehanded round the world Race. Looking forward to a poke round the boats here. This 9m boat completed a solo circumnavigation 2009-10.
