Thr 5.7.12: Les Sables d'Olonne, Port Olona. Watched to see if there's a trick for handling the swell in the entrance. Sheet in and hang on seems to be the only way.
There's a church conveniently sited right on the pier head I noticed.
Plenty of fishing fleet activity with boats bustling past...
....the colourful waterfront of La Chaume.
There's activity too on the dedicated Vendee Globe Race pontoon. This year's race starts 10.11.12.
Spotted this poster: The 27th Course Crosiere des Ports Vendeen finishes here on Saturday. Think I'll stay on to sample the atmosphere.
