Our low pressure system is doing things, pretty much, by the book:
• On Thursday, the warm front gave us a day of rain, freshening SW winds, and a falling barometer.
• Yesterday, the warm sector brought sunshine, a rising barometer; and light winds, backing NW to S.
• Today, the cold front has given a sharp fall, on the barometer; a southerly, veering to westerly, gale; and bright sun, to chase away the overnight rain.
A pretty, German flagged, Vindo 32, has run in for shelter; all shapely, wineglass, transom, and glowing, mahogany, cabin trunk. She's anchored beside us. Bark and Friar Islands are giving a good lee - but we're both sheering around in the gusts.
Further out, a, rakishly low slung, French, 40' X-Yacht; has picked up a visitors' mooring. She's visibly heeled to port; 'sailing' against the buoy.
The forecast is for a westerly 5 tomorrow. That will give us a beat out of Bantry Bay; a reach into Baltimore; and, most likely, some swell to ride, between Mizen Head and Cape Clear.
