Tomorrow, has the makings of a game of nautical Musical Chairs. In which Stargazer rides wind and tide. Until the latter stops. Before swiftly making for the nearest port, with enough depth for her to enter.
Matters are slightly complicated, by the timing of the fair tide, in relation to daybreak. For, where possible, Stargazer's skipper avoids crossing Morlaix bay in the dark. Less out of concern for its craggy nature, which is visible on the chart plotter. More because of the plethora of pot markers. Whose whereabouts are random and obscure.
As it happens, the breeze is not expected to turn west, until an hour after dawn. Which effectively sets our departure time, with half the east-going tide already run.
The strength of the breeze (and whether it backs westerly 'on time') will determine Stargazer's distance run.
