A promising breeze fills in, to carry us down river, from Penryn; the ebb beneath us. We anchor, for the day, in a sandy cove, below St Anthony light house.
The craggy cliffs of the headland give us a perfect lee, in the easterly breeze; which....
..... fades to a glassy calm, in the heat of the afternoon.
Sitting in Stargazer's cockpit, ready for the off, I fervently hope that the sea breeze has cancelled out the gradient wind. If it has, our easterly F3-4 will return, this evening, and speed us to Scilly overnight.
It is not to be though. The cross of St Piran, flag of Kernow, droops lifelessly, from its halyard. The 18.00 forecast confirms a night of light and variable airs; but promises us our east to north east 3-4, maybe even 5, overnight Wednesday into Thursday.
