Dandelion 112

Stargazer's former, Chatham, F pontoon, buddies, aboard the evocatively named Zanzibar, are in port. After over-wintering in Haslar, they are taking a local cruise. Bound for Jersey, followed by St Malo. Before making their way east, to Honfleur, via the Normandy harbours. Thence home.

It has been said that, to moor up in St Peter Port, is to meet all past cruising aquaintances. Because they will surely pass through, if you stay here long enough. There proves to be some truth in that assertion:

Current Chatham berth holders, Happy Bunny, here last summer, have returned. With a bigger boat. The name retained for the new incarnation. Crossing time, from Salcombe, four hours.

Over from the Exe, on a flying weekend visit, the Breton built, Pogo 36, Getafix. Namesake of Astrix the Gaul's druid. Met in Guernsey, most years. Three generations crewing, on this occasion. (Brochure shot. Rafting prevented one of my own)

Meanwhile, the wheel of weather fortune spins on. Today's forecast south westerly blow arrived ahead of schedule. This morning's predictions suggesting that Friday afternoon, and night, may be near windless. In its wake.

But that twelve to eighteen knots will fill in, on Saturday afternoon. Lasting into Sunday morning. If with a touch of north about it’s west. Stargazer stands by. Ready.
